Discounts and Privileges for the Persons With Disability

It was only last year when I heard about the PWD card that would give the persons with disability (PWD) the privileges entitled for their needs. The local government amended the Republic Act No. 7277, an act for providing for the rehabilitation, self development, and self reliance of persons with disability and their integration into the mainstream of society and for other purposes and otherwise known as The Magna Carta for Disabled Persons, was passed in March 24, 1992. I am a proud mom of a six-year old child with special needs. He is my second child who was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay Syndrome. Ever since he was a baby, we noticed some of his traits on lack of potential at certain points of development that made us confused about what to do so we consulted to a Developmental Pediatrician. He was born as an eight-month premature baby boy, sickly and always in the hospital for a long period of time. We're taking good care of him with unconditional love and...

Conti's Ensaimaditas and Cheese Swirl

And as usual, this is one of the delightful sweet pasalubong from hubby. He’s the sweetest person on earth who loves simple presents and big surprises.  He arrived at home from his night shift duty at around 8am. My little boy and I just got up from bed, me having my cup of coffee and my little boy having his glass of milk. It’s just another morning of what-to-prepare-for-breakfast dilemma of a mom when he arrived with 2 boxes of bread.  I would like to share my honest review with Conti's Ensaimaditas and Cheese Swirls.

Geronimo Stilton: Fa-mouse-ly funny and whisker-licking-good Adventure Series

My kids are just as fond of books as I am. They grew up choosing books over toys, choosing National Bookstore or Booksale over Toy Kingdom. My eldest even saves his daily baon to be able to buy his favorite book or kids’ magazines because I also teach them to be responsible when it comes to spending and saving money. As early as one year old, I encourage my kids to read because as a reader myself, I want them to spend more time reading a book than watching TV while inside the house because I learned that being too addicted to the television increases hyperactivity for kids. There are times when I see ourselves sitting in every corner of the house holding books. I have my own collections of different fiction and non-fiction books. The kids have their own collections of books, too and one of them is the Geronimo Stilton series of adventures. Php285.00 each at National Bookstore

Mobile Phone Standee for Couples

We have five mobile phones in the house, two for me, two for my husband and one for my son. It is usually placed above the computer table or above the refrigerator. It looks cluttered and often misplaced. There is one instance when I turned on the silent mode of my mobile phone then my youngest son (who is a special child and couldn't speak yet) played with it. I kept looking for it for hours and calling it hoping that I can see the light even if it’s not ringing. Eventually, I found it outside, just in front of our door. Whew! After that, I never leave my mobile phone in a place where he can reach and play with it again because by that time he can’t talk much and couldn’t tell me where it exactly is. By the way, we’re having speech therapy sessions and I can say that he’s doing well and can talk in three words phrase.

Scholarship Grants from MOB Foundation 2003, Inc.

My eldest son, Kenzach, is a First Year High School student, now called as Grade 7 under the new program of Department of Education which is called K to 12 whereas the Kinder plus 2 additional years in basic education is now being implemented. He graduated as a Salutatorian in his previous school, Merit Winners Academy with an average of 90.60%. We never joined a scholarship before, so when my friend told me about the MOB Foundation 2003, Inc. which is looking for incoming First Year High School student who has an average of 85 above, we didn’t hesitate to join. My son took the exam and interview and he passed! God knows how truly I am proud of him when we heard the news.

Hungry for more!

I am a certified bookworm since I was a kid. I remember reading the newspaper when I was only 6. I am an early reader and a fast learner (Ehem! these are sweet praises from my loving mom). I’ve got a Sweet Valley High and Sweet Valley University collection back in high school but I lost them one by one until none of them left because we moved from one house to another several times before. I remember how hard it was from packing and unpacking your things to arranging them all over again. I have lost a lot of my personal belongings. When I got married, quit my job and finally settled as a plain housewife, I started collecting books again. My thoughtful husband used to give me books as presents. He gave me the The Hunger Games trilogy even before they brought the movie here in the Philippines. I got so intrigued and fascinated with this book because I find it interesting in the first couple of pages, it has an unusual story that you could play with your imagination. It is the ty...
