My Brothers, My Playmates

"... Because Joaqui has brothers, he will always have the best of friends..." I have 3 boys. My eldest is 16, my second is 9 and my youngest is 2. Maybe the universe knows that I am “one of the boys” since childhood til my high school days so I think I was destined to have all boys kids and it’s perfectly fine with me. My second child was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay  since he was only 1 year old. His delayed motor skills, intellectual disability, low social skills and speech delay are the factors why he wasn’t capable of earning a lot of friends at home and in school. He couldn’t cope up with their role-playing games and he doesn’t understand most of the kids’ petty talks about the newest toys in the market, the places that they want to visit, up to their favorite cartoons on TV because of his speech delay. Another thing is, he is hyperactive so most of his actions like being giddy, roaming and jumping around, and most of his “ kakulitan ” were often mi...

The Misunderstood Child

I am the child that looks healthy and fine. I was born with ten fingers and toes. But something is different, somewhere in my mind. And what it is, nobody knows. I am the child that struggles in school. Though they say that I'm perfectly smart. They tell me I'm lazy, can learn if I try. But I don't seem to know where to start.

Pets for our kids: The first step on being responsible

When I was a kid my first pet is a duckling. I got that duckling from a pick and win game outside the school when I was only in Grade 3. There were lots of vendors in front of our school and one of them is a man that carries a huge cage full of ducklings. He doesn’t sell those instead he’ll let you pay 1 peso and pick for a small piece of paper that has a number combination. If it has zero in it then you’ll win a duckling. It is really exciting for the Elementary pupils to try our luck with just one peso. So when I got to win a duckling it felt like winning a lottery for a kid like me.

Why do kids love SpongeBob SquarePants?

SpongeBob SquarePants  is a TV series that premiered in 1999 on Nickelodeon. It i s one of the highest-rated children's cartoon shows of the era and of all time. It follows a naive and eternally optimistic sea-sponge named SpongeBob SquarePants and his endeavors in the underwater town of Bikini Bottom.  But SpongeBob seems to be the most wanted character among them.

Educational Toys, Flash Cards and Books of Phonics

Kids are naturally playful at all times especially our toddlers. Most of them see things as toys. Even in mealtime, there are a lot of destructions that’s why many of them end up leaving the table running back to their toys. We should not let them practice such things everyday because it will be hard for us to change every bad habit that they get used to when they got older. There is no particular age of a child that a mother should start teaching them self discipline. Even babies can develop a bad habit if we let them do that. It is just a matter of dealing with our own child and knowing how to raise them in the most proper way possible.
